The word Burrabinya means ‘to leap or jump’ in Wiradjuri language.

The Burrabinya – Leap to your Future program was approved and endorsed by Aunty Isabel Reid, local Wiradjuri Elder and founder of Mawang Gaway, Aboriginal Consultative Group in Wagga Wagga NSW.
The Burrabinya – Leap to your Future program is aimed at building the capacity of Year 9 and 10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, through connection with their cultural heritage and community, to develop the confidence, networks, skills, knowledge and understanding they need to reach their full potential in employment, training and education.
Participants investigate career choices and improve their work readiness through self-investigation, personal development and practical work related activities. Students benefit from exploring various education and employment pathways by participating in Employability Skills workshops and a variety of industry and education site visits.
COMPACT Inc connect and work with local community support services, employment services and education providers to provide customised information for the group.
Burrabinya – Leap to your Future, can be delivered in a variety of formats including:
Full and half day workshops, Girls groups, Boys groups and combined groups.
