Hennessy Catholic College student, Jacob Norris has had a busy year successfully completing the required mandatory hours of workplacement for his two chosen HSC VET subjects. Jacob studies Hospitality and Information Technology at Hennessy Catholic College and particularly enjoyed his time with host employer, Young Community Hub (Hub), helping them out with their computers and desktop publishing work.

Hub Manager, Naomi Peters and Parent Education and Support Network Coordinator, Cathy Daley agreed to host Jacob for 3 days in the hope that he could assist them with their IT and publishing needs. The Neighbourhood Centre needed many of their pamphlets and flyers updating as well and new ones created for upcoming community programs and classes.

Jacob’s placement Supervisor, Cathy Daley, stated that these were “jobs to be done but often a lack of time meant that they were put on the backburner. Having Jacob here to focus on these things has saved us a lot of time and meant that our materials now look modern, neat and professional. It has been a great community partnership between Hennessy Catholic College and the Neighbourhood Centre. It is a win-win for everyone as Jacob gets his placement hours whilst doing us a great service.”

Jacob successfully completed several pamphlets and was very proud of the work he completed and very pleased he could help the Neighbourhood Centre staff with their plans and preparations.
