BUILD A BRIDGE… & GET OVER IT!

Build a Bridge…& get over it! Engineering camp is an exciting 3 day career immersion camp, facilitated by COMPACT (www.compact.org.au) in partnership with Riverina Eastern Region Organisation of Councils (REROC) ( www.reroc.com.au) and supported by industry sponsors. The camp is an annual initiative designed to promote Civil Engineering careers to young people in Years 10, 11 & 12.

During the camp, participants will work in teams alongside current industry professionals and Civil Engineers from REROC Councils, Riverina Water, Goldenfields Water and Evolution Mining.  As a participant, you will experience real-life hands-on experience with a range of Engineering activities, such as laser levels, compaction testing, soil sampling and testing and spatial coordinates. With these newly acquired skills, you will plan, design, budget, problem solve, market and deliver a working bridge model.

The biggest challenge takes place with the major project, when the winning bridge design is constructed by all students to full scale, over a body of water at the Borambola Camp.

The feeling of achievement just doesn’t get better than that!

The 2024 Build a Bridge… & get over it! Camp will be held at Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre on Monday April 29 to Wednesday May 1 2024, and sponsored by Evolution Mining, Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) NSW & ACT, Riverina Water County Council (RWCC) and Goldenfields Water.

Thanks to our generous industry sponsors, there is no cost for students to attend the Build a Bridge… & get over it! Engineering Camp.

N.B. All student applicants will need to source their own transport to and from the camp.

All students Y10-12 may apply, however, to ensure a positive student experience,  it is recommended they exhibit strong STEM aptitude and ability.

To be considered for the camp, student applications must be endorsed by a school representative (e.g. Career Advisor, Principal, STEM teacher) to ensure approval of student’s STEM aptitude and gain permission to attend camp for 3 days.

Don’t miss out on this AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
