Overview

In 2011, COMPACT approached Argyle Housing with a view to partnering with a consirtium under the Live Works, Live Skills program to redevelop Rotaract Park, Young.

The concept for redeveloping Rotaract Park was to create a functional and attractive public space for local residents which would engender a sense of community pride.

Other parties involved in the project include: Centrelink, Young High School, Young Primary School, Young Shire Council, Mission Australia, Young Men’s Shed, Young Rotary and TAFE NSW Riverina Institute.

To date a great deal of work has been put into the project and all of the efforts were celebrated on 12th December, 2013 with the Christmas Carols being held at the park, on the same night the park was returned to the Young Community.

The works carried out include: Turf removal, excavation, construction of brickwork, irrigation and turf laying, concreting, construction of garden beds, cola, BBQ area, cricket pitch, half basketball court, pathways and an upgrade to the play equipment.
